The event brought together more than <strong>120 experts<\/strong>, both onsite and online, highlighting the increasing need for coordinated efforts across the entire battery lifecycle \u2014 from raw material extraction to end\u2011of\u2011life recycling.<\/p>\n<div>\n<p>Organised in collaboration with EU\u2011funded projects <strong>RESPECT<\/strong>, <strong>FREE4LIB<\/strong>, and <strong>LITHOS<\/strong>, the workshop served as a key platform to present the latest scientific advancements in <strong>sustainable mining<\/strong>, <strong>advanced materials processing<\/strong>, and <strong>innovative battery\u2011recycling technologies<\/strong>. These discussions demonstrated Europe\u2019s growing research strengths in closing material loops and improving the sustainability of emerging battery technologies.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Accelerating Collaboration for a Sustainable Battery Value Chain<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Speakers from research institutions, industry, and policy emphasised the critical importance of strengthening <strong>European collaboration<\/strong> to ensure sustainable and competitive access to critical raw materials. They stressed that innovation alone is not enough \u2014 regulatory alignment and long\u2011term cooperation are essential for supporting industrial uptake of new technologies.<\/p>\n<p>A key takeaway from the workshop was the shared ambition of moving toward a <strong>circular battery ecosystem<\/strong>, where raw materials are recovered, reused, and reintegrated into new battery production. Participants underscored that EU\u2011funded projects must extend their impact beyond their formal timelines by building durable research networks, industry partnerships, and policy interfaces.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Toward a More Resilient European Battery Sector<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>The workshop reaffirmed the need for <strong>cross\u2011sector cooperation<\/strong> to turn research breakthroughs into industrial practice\u2014helping Europe strengthen its resilience across the battery value chain and reduce dependencies on non\u2011EU raw materials.
